Antenna Sockets
- Terrestrial Sockets: Used for antenna reception or cable television. They typically have two connections: Radio (FM) and TV.
- SAT Sockets: With one or two additional SAT connections.
- Multimedia Sockets: With one or two additional connections for a cable modem or router.
- Multimedia-SAT Sockets: With two additional connections - 1x Multimedia and 1x SAT.
The types of antenna sockets are further divided into single sockets, pass-through sockets, and end sockets.
- Single Sockets: Individual sockets that should not be combined with other sockets in a cable run.
- Pass-through Sockets: Can be daisy-chained in a cable run. The last socket in a run must be an end socket or equipped with a 75 Ohm terminating resistor (for SAT, a DC-decoupled type is essential). They compensate for signal attenuation through the sockets and cable length. Sockets closer to the signal source have higher attenuation, while the last sockets in the chain have the lowest.
- End Sockets: Always terminated with 75 Ohm - that is, they are factory-equipped with a terminating resistor. Any pass-through socket can be converted into an end socket. An end socket is always the last socket in the run behind one or more pass-through sockets.
